Prostitution is illegal in Kenya so it is not unusual for a woman to be imprisoned for this. She has no money to pay her fine since she began selling her body due to severe poverty. Metro Church in Nakuru, Kenya has brought Jesus to them in the prison and this has given hope.
Their praise, singing and dancing were exuberant when we visited them. They are so grateful for anything they receive. As funds are available they are released to enter the Daughters of Destiny ("DoD") program. The warden also recommends the program to those who have completed their sentence.
If they have a very young child or are pregnant when they are arrested that child comes to prison with mom. A special building for them has been provided through a friend of the ministry, providing a cheerful place for the little ones.
